In  Maru Ram  v.  Union of India    the constitutional validity of Section 433-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 was upheld. The petitioners attacked the provision alleging infraction of Articles 14, 20(1), 72 and 161 of the Constitution of India. It was inducted into the Code by an amendment in 1978.
